Kadapa: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) president and former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on the coalition government in Andhra Pradesh, accusing it of neglecting farmers and failing to control collapsing crop prices.

Addressing a gathering, Reddy said the situation of banana farmers in particular had become dire, with produce fetching as little as ₹3,000 compared to ₹25,000–₹30,000 during the YSRCP regime. “The situation with bananas is terrible. Farmers are not finding buyers even for ₹3,000, while during our rule, they earned ₹25,000 to ₹30,000,” he said.

He also criticised the government over fertiliser distribution, alleging that urea supplies were delayed and being sold at inflated rates. “Urea is not reaching farmers, and commissions are being collected. Today, a bag of urea costs ₹200 more, and farmers are forced to buy pesticides they don’t need. During our rule, it was available at ₹265 through Rythu Bharosa Kendras (RBKs) and societies in every village. Now, both are defunct, and black marketing is thriving,” he claimed.

Reddy further accused the government of failing to deliver on promises under Chandrababu Naidu’s Annadata Sukhibhavaa scheme, which pledged ₹40,000 in support every two years but has reportedly provided only ₹5,000 so far. He also alleged that free crop insurance—implemented under the YSRCP government—had been discontinued.
