As the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 approaches, Indian Railways is making extensive arrangements to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims heading to Prayagraj. To ensure smooth and hassle-free travel, a total of 3,100 special trains will be deployed in addition to the existing 10,000 regular train services.

South Central Railway Public Relations Officer (PRO) A Sridhar confirmed the large-scale planning undertaken by Indian Railways, stating, "With regard to Maha Kumbh Mela, Indian Railways and South Central Railway have planned in a big way and could run a huge number of special trains. With regard to this, I could proudly say that Indian Railways has announced 3,100 special trains exclusively for Kumbh Mela, including 10,000 regular trains, all towards Prayagraj to facilitate passengers going to Maha Kumbh."

The Kumbh Mela, one of the world’s largest religious gatherings, is expected to draw millions of devotees, saints, and tourists from across the country and abroad. The additional train services are aimed at easing the travel burden, ensuring accessibility, and preventing overcrowding at railway stations.
