Indian Navy Hosts IONS Maritime Security Meeting in New Delhi

New Delhi — The Indian Navy successfully hosted the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Working Group Meeting on Maritime Security (IWG-MARSEC) from 24th to 25th June 2025 in the national capital. The high-level engagement served as a key platform for regional naval cooperation and strategic dialogue among Indian Ocean littoral states.

The two-day deliberations witnessed active participation from 13 IONS member nations, including Australia, Bangladesh, France, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Thailand. Delegates discussed shared maritime security concerns ranging from piracy, illegal fishing, and arms trafficking to the growing importance of coordinated humanitarian and disaster relief efforts.
