Delhi: Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri highlighted the enduring and multifaceted relationship between India and Sri Lanka during the visit of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya. Puri underscored that the two nations are not merely neighbours but partners connected by “deep-rooted ties of kinship, history and shared culture.”
“These deep-rooted connections continue to guide and enrich our relationship to this day,” Puri said, reaffirming India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations under the Neighbourhood First and Mahasagar visions.
Speaking on the energy partnership, the minister noted that India has consistently played a key role in ensuring Sri Lanka’s energy stability. “As far as energy is concerned, India and Sri Lanka have a vibrant partnership. We have been a consistent supplier of refined petroleum products, and going ahead, we are committed to play a significant role in bolstering Sri Lanka's energy security,” he added.
