Jeddah: The Consulate General of India in Jeddah has established a 24x7 control room following a tragic bus accident late last night involving a group of Umrah pilgrims near Madinah, Saudi Arabia. In an official statement, the Consulate expressed its “deepest condolences to the bereaved families” and assured that all necessary support is being provided on the ground.
According to the Consulate, both the Embassy of India in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah are in close coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as well as other local authorities to assess the situation and ensure timely assistance to the injured. Officials are also in touch with the concerned Umrah operators to verify details of the passengers and streamline support measures.
A dedicated team from the Consulate, along with Indian community volunteers, has been deployed across various hospitals and incident sites to facilitate medical care, gather accurate information, and assist affected families. The control room will operate round the clock to respond to queries and provide updates to relatives of the pilgrims.
