The Department of Posts is celebrating National Postal Week 2025 from October 6 to 10, commemorating the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874. Each day of the week is dedicated to showcasing specific services and initiatives, reflecting India Post’s continuous commitment to modernization, innovation, and customer-centric service delivery.

Under the framework of Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0, the Department is undergoing a major digital transformation to create a safer, more reliable, and transparent postal system. Citizen-focused and financial services now reach even the remotest corners of the country, advancing objectives of financial inclusion and digital empowerment.

A key highlight is the upgrade of Speed Post, India Post’s flagship service, with features such as OTP-based secure delivery, online payment, SMS notifications, real-time tracking, convenient online booking, and a registration facility for users. To sustain improvements and rising operational costs, the tariff of Speed Post (documents) was rationally revised, effective October 1, 2025. Value-added services, including Registration and OTP Delivery, are now available at a nominal charge of ₹5 per item plus GST.

The West Bengal Postal Circle has introduced Mobile Parcel Vans (MPVs) to bring postal services directly to citizens, retailers, and businesses. Additionally, Dakghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs), now 32 across the region, support MSMEs, artisans, and small entrepreneurs in exporting their products globally.

In the realm of Aadhaar services, India Post is organizing special camps for mandatory biometric updates of schoolchildren aged 7 to 15 years, free of charge until September 30, 2026, reinforcing its role in public service delivery.

Further outreach programs include Financial Inclusion Camps, PLI/RPLI awareness drives, and Dak Chaupals, targeting hilly, tribal, and LWE-affected areas. Through these initiatives, India Post continues to demonstrate its vision of efficient, transparent, and technology-driven services, ensuring that modernization benefits reach every citizen.
