Delhi: Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday said that India is witnessing a transformative rise in its space ecosystem, rapidly positioning itself as a preferred global destination for investment and collaboration. Speaking at an event in the capital, he highlighted the country’s shift from what he described as a “decimal economy” to an “eight-million US economy,” adding that India's growth trajectory is poised to multiply several times over the next decade. According to him, the space sector will be one of the major drivers of this economic expansion.
Singh noted that Indian startups are no longer merely innovative, but are also evolving into “very lucrative entrepreneurs” capable of attracting global attention. The Minister stated that investors from across the world are now engaging with India’s private and government-led space initiatives, a trend he expects to strengthen significantly in the coming years.
He further underlined the role of technology in reshaping modern warfare, asserting that traditional contact warfare is steadily diminishing. Citing Operation Sindoor as a key example, Singh said the operation served as a “vindication” of India’s advancements in both the space and atomic energy sectors. According to him, such operations provide rare real-world opportunities to demonstrate capabilities that cannot be tested by conventional means.
“Pakistan incidentally gave us an opportunity to test our capacities,” he remarked, adding that the success of these technological deployments reflects India’s growing competence in strategic and defense domains. The Minister concluded that as global interest accelerates, India’s space sector is set to play a defining role in shaping the nation’s future economic growth.
