He described the two nations as “trusted friends and reliable partners,” emphasizing that such trust and time-tested ties are rare in today’s world.

Dr. Jaishankar expressed India’s deep appreciation for Cyprus’s consistent support on matters of vital national interest, particularly its stance against cross-border terrorism. “We deeply appreciate Cyprus’s consistent support on issues of core interest to India, especially in our battle against cross-border terrorism,” he said, extending gratitude for Cyprus’s strong condemnation of the recent Pahalgam terrorist attack and its solidarity with India’s anti-terror efforts.

The Minister also acknowledged Cyprus’s continued advocacy for India’s permanent membership in an expanded United Nations Security Council and its backing for India’s inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers Group.

Reaffirming India’s position on Cyprus, Dr. Jaishankar reiterated unwavering support for the nation’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity. He underlined India’s backing for a bi-zonal, bi-communal federation with political equality, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions, as the framework for a peaceful resolution to the Cyprus issue.
