Delhi: In a significant boost to India’s agricultural sector, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday announced that the country has achieved a record level of crop production this year. As per the third estimate, India produced an impressive 3,539.59 lakh metric tons of crops—an increase of over 6.5% compared to the previous year.

“This year our production has broken all records, as per the third estimate,” Chouhan said during a press briefing. “The country’s food reserves are full. The production is constantly increasing.”

Highlighting the government’s commitment to bridging the gap between agricultural research and grassroots implementation, Chouhan also unveiled a nationwide initiative titled “Lab to Land.” Starting tomorrow, teams of agricultural scientists will travel to villages across the country to engage directly with farmers. These interactions aim to ensure that the latest innovations and scientific practices are effectively applied in the field to further boost productivity and sustainability.

“This campaign will take scientific knowledge to the farmers’ doorstep,” Chouhan stated. “The team of scientists will visit villages and interact with farmers there.”
