Shopian, Jammu & Kashmir: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, VK Birdi, conducted a visit to Shopian district to evaluate the district's law enforcement initiatives and security preparedness. The visit aimed to ensure effective policing in the region amidst its unique challenges.
During his visit, IGP Birdi reviewed various aspects of the district's policing operations, including the crime scenario, law and order management, the performance of the Special Operations Group (SOG), and ongoing training programs for police personnel.
A comprehensive crime review meeting was chaired by IGP Birdi, attended by senior officers such as DIG South Kashmir Range (SKR) Javid Iqbal, SSP Shopian Anayat Ali Chowdhary, and other gazetted officers. SSP Chowdhary provided a detailed briefing on the district's policing framework, highlighting recent achievements, challenges, and strategies in place to maintain law and order.
The IGP emphasized the importance of proactive measures in addressing crime and ensuring the safety of residents. He lauded the efforts of the Special Operations Group (SOG) and other law enforcement personnel in tackling security challenges effectively.
The visit also underscored the ongoing training programs designed to enhance the professional capabilities of the police force in the district. IGP Birdi encouraged officers to stay vigilant, improve coordination, and strengthen their resolve in maintaining peace and order in Shopian.
