Port Blair – In a remarkable rescue operation on January 13, the Indian Air Force (IAF) saved the lives of two critically injured Andaman Police personnel from the remote volcanic Narcondum Island. The operation showcased the pilots' exceptional skills and quick decision-making under challenging conditions.

The island, known for its rugged terrain and lack of accessible infrastructure, posed a significant challenge as there was no suitable landing zone. Demonstrating precision and expertise, the helicopter crew executed a low hover maneuver, with the aircraft positioned half over exposed rocks and half over the sea. This daring approach allowed the injured personnel to be safely evacuated despite the difficult conditions.

The IAF, in a statement, commended the pilots and crew for their timely and expert actions, emphasizing that their efforts were instrumental in saving lives. "With no landing zone, the pilots executed a precise low hover—half over rocks exposed by low tide, half over the sea. Timely action and expert skills saved lives," the IAF stated.
