Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Sunday hailed the announcement that India will host the 2030 Commonwealth Games in Ahmedabad, calling it a historic moment that reflects the country’s growing global stature. Speaking in Raipur, Sai said the opportunity to host the centenary edition of the Games marks a milestone for Indian sport and demonstrates the confidence of the international sporting community in the nation’s capabilities.
“This is a matter of good fortune for India,” the Chief Minister remarked, noting that the event is likely to give a boost not only to sports infrastructure but also to tourism, economic activity, and international collaboration. Ahmedabad is expected to become the focal point of preparations over the coming years, with large-scale development and planning anticipated.
Sai also highlighted an upcoming national security engagement, announcing that a three-day conference of Director Generals of Police (DGPs) will be held from November 28 to 30. The event, he said, will see participation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Their presence, he added, underscores the importance of the discussions expected to take place on policing, internal security, and law enforcement strategies.
