Backing Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of vote theft in the recent Haryana Assembly elections, former Chief Minister and senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that the people’s mandate was “muzzled” and the “Haryana government was stolen.”

Speaking shortly after Rahul Gandhi’s press conference on Wednesday, Hooda stated that concerns over irregularities had existed from the very beginning. “Rahul Gandhi did a PC today. It was talked about since the beginning that the people’s mandate was muzzled. Not only vote theft happened, but a theft of the Haryana government happened,” Hooda said.

He added that Gandhi had presented evidence supporting the claims of manipulation and that there was now “no doubt” regarding discrepancies in the results. “Everybody was surprised with the outcome. No exit polls had projected more than 29 seats for the BJP, while Congress was expected to get the majority,” he said.

Hooda further highlighted inconsistencies in voter turnout figures, claiming that the voting percentage had increased abnormally after polling concluded. “There was definitely some issue,” he said, demanding a thorough investigation into the alleged irregularities.
