Himachal Pradesh: In response to the new anti-defection bill passed by the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, Minister Vikramaditya Singh has defended the legislation, stating that it is a preventive measure aimed at ensuring political stability in the state. Singh clarified that the bill was introduced to prevent a recurrence of past incidents where party members betrayed their political affiliations.

"The Chief Minister has clarified his stand over it. The bill acts as a deterrent to ensure that the chain of events that occurred in the past does not repeat in Himachal Pradesh," Singh explained. He further stated, "It has been decided that those who betray the party should not be given facilities."

Singh emphasized that the bill was brought forward to send a clear message to all political actors, reinforcing loyalty and discipline within parties. He assured that there is no ill-will or political agenda behind the legislation, saying, "The Bill has been brought to send a message; there is no ill-will. There is no political agenda behind it."
