New Delhi: Himachal Pradesh Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur has strongly criticized the state government for its recent decision to use temple offerings to run government departments, calling it controversial and unacceptable.
Thakur accused the Congress-led government of disrespecting Sanatan Dharma while simultaneously using temple funds for administrative expenses. “On one hand, you are speaking against Sanatan, and on the other, you are using offerings made by devotees to run government departments. No government in the country has done this,” he said.
He also alleged that the government boycotted the Maha Kumbh Mela, an event attended by devotees from across the world. “If temple funds are used during a disaster or epidemic, it is understandable. But using temple money to run the government is completely unjustified,” he added.
Thakur demanded that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu immediately withdraw the notification, warning that the BJP will raise the issue in the upcoming assembly session.
