Shimla, Himachal Pradesh – Heavy snowfall and rain have severely impacted normal life across Himachal Pradesh, leading to widespread disruptions in road connectivity, power supply, and water distribution. According to the State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA), 583 roads, including five national highways, remain closed due to snow accumulation and landslides.
The extreme weather has also affected electricity supply, with 2,263 distribution transformers (DTRs) out of service, leaving many areas without power. Additionally, 279 water supply schemes have been hampered, causing concerns over drinking water availability in several regions.
Authorities are working to restore essential services, with road-clearing operations underway and efforts being made to repair damaged power infrastructure. However, the ongoing adverse weather conditions continue to pose challenges. Residents are advised to take precautions and avoid unnecessary travel until normalcy is restored.
