Haridwar: Senior Congress leader Harish Rawat on Thursday dismissed the formation of the new NDA government in Bihar as a mere political “formality,” predicting that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s latest term would be short-lived. Speaking to reporters in Haridwar, Rawat alleged that the BJP intends to take full control of the Bihar government once Nitish Kumar is sidelined.
“This is just a formality. Nitish Kumar will be Chief Minister for a few days, and after a few days, the BJP will rule Bihar by removing Nitish Kumar and splitting his party,” Rawat claimed, suggesting that the current power arrangement in the state is temporary and strategically engineered by the BJP.
Rawat’s sharply worded remarks come on the day of Nitish Kumar’s swearing-in ceremony, which marked his return to the Chief Minister’s post for the tenth time. The NDA’s renewed mandate in Bihar has drawn contrasting reactions across the political spectrum, with allies celebrating the continuity of leadership while opposition parties have cast doubts on the stability of the coalition.
