India women's hockey chief coach Harendra Singh expressed immense pride and joy following his team's victory over China in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy. The Indian team secured a hard-fought 1-0 win, a result that Singh described as a "dream" come true for any coach, especially one working in their homeland.
"It is a dream of every coach to get something out of coaching in his homeland, and I could not have asked for anything bigger than having my 20 daughters win a trophy with a brilliant display of hockey," Singh said after the victory. He further added that the success was not just about winning the trophy but also about the powerful connection with the fans. "People became their fans, and I became a fan too," he remarked with pride.
Singh also acknowledged the significance of Bihar as the backdrop for this achievement, noting the knowledge his players gained from competing in the state. "In the land of Bihar, you gain so much knowledge, so from the land of Buddha, my girls have gained a lot of knowledge today," he said, reflecting on the profound impact the region had on his team’s performance.
The victory, which secured India’s place at the top of the competition, was a testament to the hard work and skill of the team, and Harendra Singh’s coaching.
