Delhi: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has criticized the AAP-led Delhi government for its failure to keep up with the country’s economic progress, asserting that the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections are crucial for the city’s development.

Speaking on the progress under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, Puri stated, “In the almost 11 years of PM Modi, the country has been moving ahead. Now it has become a four trillion-dollar economy and India has jumped from the 11th position to the 5th position.”

Highlighting India’s leap in global rankings, Puri pointed to IMF data, noting that India has now become the fourth-largest economy globally. However, he argued that despite these national achievements, Delhi has lagged behind.

“The Delhi government has lagged behind. So, in the coming times, to develop Delhi, to provide facilities to the citizens of Delhi, the election becomes very important for that correction,” Puri stressed.
