Gujarat has reported significant progress in expanding its green footprint and strengthening environmental resilience under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The state government said its continued focus on sustainability aligns with its broader vision of “Green Gujarat, Viksit Gujarat,” aimed at building a climate-resilient future.
Over the past three years, the state has undertaken plantation activities across 1.04 lakh hectares of forest land, marking a substantial boost to natural green cover. In addition, another 10,213 hectares have been brought under departmental plantation through the Social Forestry Scheme, reinforcing the government’s focus on community-driven environmental participation.
Gujarat has also emerged as the national leader in the implementation of the MISHTI scheme, which promotes mangrove conservation and restoration across India’s coastal states. With plantations spread over 34,242 hectares, the state has pushed forward efforts to protect coastal ecosystems, strengthen natural barriers against climate change, and preserve biodiversity
