Panaji: Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday reiterated that his government is fully committed to ensuring justice for the 25 people who lost their lives in the tragic fire at a Goa nightclub, asserting that the owners—Luthra brothers—will face strict legal action. The two brothers were detained in Thailand after a Look-Out Circular (LOC) and passport cancellation orders were issued against them.
“Our government will work to give justice to the 25 people who lost their lives… We will put them (the club owners, Luthra brothers) behind bars,” Sawant said, addressing the media in Panaji.
He detailed the steps taken so far in the high-profile investigation. “We arrested six people after the tragic fire incident. We also suspended three people and are conducting the investigation in a fast-track manner,” he said. One of the three club owners was arrested in Delhi soon after the incident.
Following the arrests, authorities issued an LOC against the remaining two owners and instructed the Regional Passport Office to cancel their passports. “With the help of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Home Minister, the Luthra brothers were detained in Thailand,” Sawant confirmed.
