New Delhi: Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant met Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupender Yadav, in the national capital to discuss a series of critical issues concerning the state’s ecological and forest management challenges. The meeting, also attended by Goa Assembly Speaker Shri Ramesh Tawadkar, was aimed at strengthening coordination between the state and the Centre on pressing environmental matters.
During the meeting, CM Sawant raised various concerns related to forest clearances, coastal zone regulations, and the need for timely interventions in ongoing conservation projects. He expressed deep appreciation for the Union Minister’s “intervention and prompt resolution of most of the concerns raised.”
The discussion also focused on balancing ecological preservation with the state’s development needs. CM Sawant emphasized that Goa, as a coastal state rich in biodiversity, requires consistent central support to address the twin challenges of environmental protection and infrastructure growth.
“I am grateful to Union Minister Bhupender Yadav for his prompt support and for understanding the unique ecological sensitivities of Goa,” the Chief Minister said.
