Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Congress, alleging that the party has begun a “campaign against Hindus.” His remarks came in response to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s recent comments on Hinduism, which the minister claimed were offensive and contrary to India’s constitutional and cultural values.

“Whoever says things like this neither believes in India’s Constitution nor has anything to do with India’s culture,” Singh said in Delhi. Accusing Reddy of echoing what he described as the sentiments of “Mughal invaders,” the BJP leader demanded that the Telangana Chief Minister openly rebrand his organisation. “Revanth Reddy should declare the Congress Party as the Muslim League Congress Party,” he added.

Singh also reacted strongly to recent remarks made by Jamiat Ulema-i-Hind president Maulana Mahmood Madani. The Union Minister said Madani should take his views to an Islamic nation if he wished to act as a “Speaker” there, asserting that India had no place for divisive rhetoric. “We don’t need people like him in India. They create a divide, abuse Hindus, and there is no place for jihad in India,” he said.

Calling for legal scrutiny of Madani’s comments, Singh said, “The one who talks about jihad should be tried as per the law.”
