Sivasagar, Assam — Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has strongly criticized Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for what he called an attempt to indulge in “petty politics” at a time when the nation is mourning the tragic terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking on April 29, Gogoi said, “It is unfortunate that at a time when the entire country is united and wants a strong response against Pakistan for the terrorist-sponsored attack on Indian citizens, BJP leaders in various states, including Assam, are indulging in petty politics.”
The Congress leader accused Sarma of undermining the gravity of the situation by making political statements instead of focusing on the national consensus against terrorism. “I think the Assam CM is insulting those who laid down their lives in Pahalgam. He is demeaning and diluting the Pahalgam tragedy,” Gogoi said.
He further urged the Assam Chief Minister to redirect his attention toward pressing issues facing the people of Assam, rather than politicizing a moment of national grief. “He should be well advised to focus on the real issues that affect the people of Assam,” he added.
