HYDERABAD: Union Minister and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy sharply criticized the state government's caste survey, calling it a "fake census" and questioning its reliability. Speaking on the Centre’s decision regarding the caste census, Reddy stated, “Even before independence, there was a caste census in this country. During British rule too, censuses were conducted in the name of caste census. However, the survey in Telangana was only done under the name of a caste survey.”
Reddy further slammed the methodology behind the survey, accusing the state government of conducting an improper survey with inadequate fieldwork. “This is not a proper census; it's a fake census. There's no reliable data, and the survey wasn't conducted properly either. They didn’t even visit 50 percent of the houses,” he stated, emphasizing that the survey was not conducted scientifically.
The Union Minister expressed support for the Central Government’s approach to caste enumeration, stating, “What the Government of India is doing now is based on the Constitution and the decisions of Parliament.” He further clarified that the Centre's decision on caste census is in line with the framework established by the nation’s Constitution, and added, “There’s no Telangana model we’re following.”
