Goa, January 4 — The French Navy aircraft carrier Charles De Gaulle has docked at the Mormugao Port Trust jetty, marking a significant moment in bilateral defense cooperation between India and France. The arrival of the aircraft carrier signals the beginning of joint exercises aimed at enhancing interoperability and strengthening ties between the two nations.
In the coming days, the French carrier strike group, which includes the cutting-edge Rafale Marine fighter aircraft, will collaborate with Indian Air Force fighter aircraft in a series of military drills. This joint exercise, which is expected to be a high-level display of tactical maneuvers, will enhance the operational synergy between the two countries' air forces.
Additionally, while en route back from the Pacific Ocean, where the French navy has conducted exercises with various allies, including Indonesia, the warships attached to the Charles De Gaulle will participate in the 42nd edition of the Varuna exercise. The Varuna exercise is a bilateral naval drill held annually between India and France, focusing on improving maritime security cooperation, naval tactics, and defense strategies. This longstanding military cooperation reflects both nations' commitment to strengthening defense ties and enhancing regional security.
