Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh — In a significant move to address long-standing water scarcity in the Uddanam region, Union Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the ₹265 crore Uddanam Phase-2 Drinking Water Scheme at Buragam village in the Pathapatnam constituency.
Accompanied by Pathapatnam MLA Mamidi Govinda Rao, District Collector Swapnil Dinkar, NDA alliance leaders, public representatives, and local activists, the Minister said the project is a major step toward providing a permanent and sustainable solution to the drinking water crisis that has affected several villages in this part of coastal Andhra Pradesh for decades.
“The scheme plays a crucial role in alleviating the hardships of women struggling with water scarcity and in safeguarding the health of the people,” Ram Mohan Naidu said, emphasizing the human and health costs associated with water shortages in Uddanam.
The Uddanam region has historically been plagued by high rates of kidney disease, often linked to poor water quality. This ambitious drinking water project is expected to significantly reduce the burden on affected communities by ensuring access to safe and clean water.
