Former Additional Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), PK Mishra, has spoken about the recent return of BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw by Pakistan. Mishra explained that the soldier had crossed the border inadvertently, leading to his brief detention by Pakistani forces.
“The jawan (Purnam Kumar Shaw) crossed the line by mistake,” Mishra said, providing clarity on the circumstances. He added that Pakistan handed him back through the Wagah-Attari border crossing, although the return could have been arranged at the same area near Ferozepur where the crossing occurred.
Highlighting the tense atmosphere between the two countries at the time, Mishra noted that Pakistan agreed to return the jawan only after the ceasefire was established. “Tensions were there between both the countries and after ceasefire Pakistan agreed to return him,” he stated.
