Shimla — Torrential rains over the past week have led to severe flash floods across Himachal Pradesh, causing an estimated loss of approximately ₹300 crore, according to State Public Works Minister Jagat Singh Negi. The deluge has significantly disrupted road connectivity, electricity supply, and water distribution in multiple districts.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Negi stated, “Due to the heavy rainfall in the past week, there has been a loss of approximately ₹300 crore.” He noted that infrastructure damage has been particularly severe in remote and hilly areas, where landslides and overflowing rivers have swept away small bridges and blocked local roads.
“So far, our national highway has not been closed. Some small bridges in certain areas have washed away,” he added, indicating that while major routes remain operational, many secondary routes have suffered damage.
The minister assured that government departments are working round-the-clock to restore essential services. “Road connectivity, electricity lines and water supply have been disrupted. The department is working to restore services as soon as possible,” he said.
