Silchar (Assam): Five students from Bangladesh enrolled at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Silchar have been suspended following allegations of their involvement in violent clashes on the campus. Officials confirmed on Monday that the students will also face deportation.
According to institute authorities, the disciplinary action was taken after internal inquiries indicated that the students were directly linked to recent incidents of unrest that disrupted normal campus functioning. The clashes reportedly led to damage to property and raised security concerns among other students.
Local administration and police have been monitoring the situation closely. Officials stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) were informed of the matter, following which the process of deportation was initiated.
