Patliputra, Patna: The Indian Railways today inaugurated a new Vande Bharat Express connecting Patliputra and Gorakhpur, marking the debut of the high-speed train in this important regional corridor. The announcement was made by Dilip Kumar, Executive Director of Information and Publicity (EDIP) at the Railway Board, during a press briefing in Patna.
Describing the significance of the new launch, Kumar said, “Vande Bharat Express, Namo Rapid Rail, and Amrit Bharat Express constitute the trinity of the modern transport system of Indian Railways, and to strengthen this trinity, the new Vande Bharat will start today.”
The newly flagged-off train will cover the distance between Patliputra and Gorakhpur in just 7 hours, providing a major boost to connectivity and travel comfort in the region. Notably, this is the first Vande Bharat Express to operate in this section, which had long been underserved by India’s premium rail services.
“This train goes through places where the Vande Bharat transportation system didn’t previously exist,” Kumar noted, adding that “one section of society had been demanding this service for a long time.”
