Srinagar: In a stirring address at the Women Leaders Conclave 2025 held in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, National Conference (NC) President Dr. Farooq Abdullah called on women to move beyond silence and struggle actively for their rights. His speech focused on empowerment, urgent action, and a vision of leadership for future generations.
“Our sisters are still oppressed—at home, in society, and often in silence,” Abdullah said. “Justice doesn’t come to those who wait; it comes to those who rise.” The veteran leader emphasized that meaningful change requires courage, education, and collective resolve.
While acknowledging legislative progress—referring to the passage of recent bills for women's welfare—Abdullah questioned their real-life impact. “A bill has been passed, but the real question is—when will it reach your lives?” he asked, drawing applause from the audience.
He stressed the importance of education, health, and vocational training, calling them essential tools in the fight for gender equality. “These are your weapons. Without them, you cannot fight,” he said, urging women to stop waiting and take charge of their future.
Abdullah also outlined the National Conference’s ongoing efforts, including the establishment of women’s centers and training programs aimed at fostering leadership and economic independence. “We’re preparing for a future where our daughters don’t just survive, they lead,” he concluded.
