Srinagar, J&K: National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, addressing the formation of a new government in Jammu and Kashmir, outlined his party’s top priorities, with the restoration of statehood at the forefront. Abdullah, in a statement, acknowledged that the restoration of Article 370 would take time but reaffirmed the immediate focus on securing statehood for the region.
"Our priority is to solve all the issues faced by the people here. We hope the central government treats us well and helps us restore statehood," Abdullah said. He further emphasized the importance of building good relations with the centre, noting J&K's strategic position. "Jammu and Kashmir shares its borders with atomic powers like Pakistan and China. The Centre needs to realize this. I hope we will get full support in administering the Union Territory," he added.
The National Conference leader also mentioned that discussions with the Congress party would soon determine when they would take oath to formally assume leadership. Abdullah expressed hope for collaborative efforts to address the challenges J&K faces and assured that his party would work diligently to improve the region’s situation.
Farooq Abdullah’s remarks underscore the National Conference’s determination to prioritize governance and the region's political future, signaling potential shifts in J&K's relationship with the central government.
