Mumbai, May 1 — On the occasion of Maharashtra Day, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs of the Samyukta Maharashtra Movement and extended greetings to the people of the state. Speaking at a commemorative event, Shinde honored the sacrifices made during the movement that led to the formation of Maharashtra in 1960, calling it a pivotal moment in the state’s history.

“I congratulate the people of Maharashtra on this occasion. I salute the martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for this land,” Shinde stated. He emphasized that the present and future of Maharashtra must be built on the values and aspirations of those who fought for a united state with Mumbai as its capital.

Reaffirming the state government’s commitment to inclusive development, Shinde said, “We are working to bring the common people into the mainstream. We will continue to do such work for the development of the state as a tribute to the martyrs.”
