External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar emphasized the significance of India’s ongoing diplomatic expansion, acknowledging that the nation is addressing past gaps in its global outreach. Speaking about the opening of a new consulate, he pointed out that it had been nearly 40 years since India last took such a step in the country.

"In some ways, it's about the past—we are making up for a lot of things we could have or should have done earlier," Jaishankar remarked. He highlighted the profound changes in India's global standing, including the deepening quality of bilateral relations, the growing Indian diaspora, an increasing number of Indian students abroad, and even shared cultural interests like cricket.
