Disaster Management Training Rolled Out for Maharashtra ITI Students

By A Staff Reporter

Mumbai | In a significant move aimed at preparing youth for emergency situations, the Maharashtra Skill Development Department has launched a disaster management training program for all government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) students across the state.

The training initiative kicks off today at the Rajamata Jijau ITI in Thane district, where former Director General of Police (DGP) Pravin Dixit will lead the first session. According to the state department, Dixit’s guidance will help students understand the importance of readiness, response, and recovery in times of natural or man-made disasters.

Officials say the goal is to create a skilled and aware workforce that can play a proactive role during crises such as floods, earthquakes, fires, or industrial accidents. “This training will help students become not just technically competent but also socially responsible,” a department spokesperson said.
