Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav on Wednesday voiced strong concerns over the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SSR) of electoral rolls, alleging that the process is leading to the removal of genuine voters due to excessive pressure on Booth Level Officers (BLOs). She said BLOs are being compelled to work beyond their capacity, resulting in hasty decisions that may affect the integrity of the voter list.
According to Yadav, when BLOs visit households and do not find voters at home, the names are being marked for deletion without adequate verification. “If a voter is not present during a single visit, their name should not be directly shifted to the deletion list,” she said, urging both the government and the Election Commission to reassess the process.
She also demanded an extension of the SSR deadline, contending that a rushed exercise could lead to widespread errors. “If the government truly wants an accurate and transparent voter list, it must extend the deadline and reduce the burden on BLOs,” she added.
