Bhopal: Senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh on Tuesday criticized the arrest of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, describing him as a multi-faceted personality whose contributions to society are well-recognized.

Singh, who took to social media to express his views, said he has known Wangchuk for a long time. “During Parliament Standing Committee’s visit to Leh recently, we visited institutions of Sonam Wangchuk. He is an amazing person and is blessed with many talents,” Singh wrote.

The Congress leader highlighted Wangchuk’s work as an educationist, environmentalist, activist, and Gandhian, noting his long-standing efforts in promoting sustainable practices and innovative educational models in Ladakh. “The way he is being treated is absolutely condemnable,” Singh added, while refraining from directly commenting on the circumstances surrounding the arrest.
