Delhi | Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said that “Vande Mataram” continues to hold immense relevance even after 150 years, serving as a bridge between India’s freedom struggle and its ongoing journey toward becoming a developed nation.
Speaking at an event at Ramjas College to commemorate 150 years of the patriotic hymn, Pradhan highlighted its enduring role in inspiring generations. “‘Vande Mataram’ became a medium for national awakening during the freedom struggle, and today, we have to make India a developed nation,” he said.
Pradhan expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Government of India for recognizing the historical and cultural significance of the song by deciding to commemorate its 150th anniversary.
He also underscored the importance of instilling the values embodied in “Vande Mataram” among the youth, saying that the spirit of the hymn reflects India’s unity, courage, and commitment to progress.
