Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Friday highlighted the state’s deep-rooted cultural and literary legacy as he inaugurated the Dehradun Literature Festival at Doon International School. Addressing writers, artists and students, Dhami said Uttarakhand had always been a “land of literature and culture,” shaped by its rich storytelling traditions and intellectual history.

Dhami said the festival would play an important role in motivating emerging writers, scholars and cultural enthusiasts. “The literature festival being held today in Dehradun will serve as a source of great inspiration for the new generation of writers and cultural workers,” he said, emphasising the need to nurture creativity and encourage young voices from across the Himalayan state.

The Chief Minister noted that many individuals working in the literary field have been sharing valuable insights with the government. “We are also incorporating the suggestions of people working in literature into the state government's work,” he said, adding that literary engagement is essential for policy measures aimed at preserving language, culture and heritage.
