New Delhi – Denmark has reiterated its unwavering commitment to the global fight against terrorism and expressed solidarity with India in the wake of recent terror incidents. Speaking in New Delhi, Danish Ambassador to India, Rasmus Abildgaard Kristensen, emphasized his country’s consistent and principled position on countering terrorism, both in bilateral engagements and on international platforms.
“Denmark was among the first countries to not only express its sympathy and condolences to the Indian government and to the Indian people in the aftermath of the horrific terror attack that happened, but we were also very strong in condemning terrorism wherever it takes place,” said Ambassador Kristensen. He underscored that this condemnation is part of a long-standing Danish policy and that Denmark had clearly communicated its stance to India and at global institutions like the United Nations Security Council.
Currently serving as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, Denmark has been vocal in its support for international actions against terrorism. “We have made that very clear at the UN Security Council, where we are currently a non-permanent member,” the ambassador noted.
While Kristensen acknowledged that there is no formal bilateral counterterrorism arrangement between India and Denmark, he highlighted the two nations’ collaboration through multilateral institutions. “We cooperate with India and other countries in multilateral fora, whether it's the UN Security Council or elsewhere, to fight terrorism wherever it occurs, because this is a strong Danish position,” he said.
