Delhi: The Lieutenant Governor (LG) Secretariat of Delhi has issued a statement regarding its decision to hire a Social Media Agency for managing its online outreach. The Secretariat highlighted the necessity of this move, especially in an era dominated by fake news, misinformation, and false propaganda. The agency's role will be to ensure that factual and correct information is disseminated to counter misleading narratives often spread by individuals with vested interests on social media platforms.

The Secretariat disclosed that the tender for this initiative, amounting to Rs 1.5 crores annually, has been transparently posted on relevant platforms. The objectives and reasons for hiring the agency are clearly outlined in the tender document, aiming to enhance the accuracy of information available to the public.

However, the LG Secretariat took strong exception to the recent remarks made by GNCTD Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj, who criticized the hiring process. The Secretariat described Bharadwaj's statements as "abusive, defamatory, misleading, and patently false." The statement also mentioned that the Secretariat is considering taking legal action in response to the Minister's comments.

This development marks a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between the Delhi government and the LG Secretariat, further complicating the political dynamics in the capital.
