New Delhi, June 24 — In a high-intensity road repair drive, Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma on Monday inspected ongoing pothole-filling work in the Press Enclave area of Saket, asserting the government’s commitment to provide better roads and eliminate waterlogging issues across the capital.

“Our commitment is to give good roads to the people of Delhi,” Verma told reporters during the site visit. “We have taken the initiative to fill 3,400 potholes in a single day, and by 11 AM, 50%—around 1,700 potholes—had already been filled. Each pothole takes around 20 minutes to fill, and we aim to complete the task by evening.”

Verma highlighted ongoing infrastructure efforts, stating that 150 kilometers of new roads have already been constructed, and the government is working towards a target of 500 kilometers for the current year. He took a swipe at the previous administration, alleging that “poor-quality roads were constructed earlier,” and pledged to recarpet all major roads to improve driving conditions.

On the issue of seasonal waterlogging, the minister said teams from the PWD, NHAI, and DDA are actively involved in identifying and resolving the root causes. “We are analyzing the factors behind recurring waterlogging and taking long-term corrective steps,” he said.
