Delhi: In a move to support religious leaders, the Delhi government has announced a financial assistance scheme under the ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna.’ The initiative, aimed at recognizing the contributions of priests and granthis in the city, promises Rs 18,000 as financial aid to each eligible recipient.
Addressing the media, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj shared details of the program and highlighted the positive response from the community. "The priests met with Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, and they were assured that Rs 18,000 will be provided to every priest and granthi. Everyone was very happy with the announcement," Bhardwaj stated.
He further emphasized the importance of respecting religious leaders and ensuring their well-being. "They said they will be happy with whatever is bestowed with respect," Bhardwaj added, underlining the gratitude expressed by the beneficiaries during the meeting.
The scheme underscores the Delhi government's commitment to supporting various communities and recognizing the role of spiritual leaders in society. It comes at a time when many religious figures are seeking financial stability amidst rising living costs.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has previously championed several welfare schemes targeting different sections of society, and this latest initiative adds to his government’s efforts to ensure inclusive development.
The ‘Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna’ is expected to benefit hundreds of priests and granthis across Delhi, fostering goodwill and strengthening the relationship between the government and religious communities. The financial aid is set to be disbursed in the coming weeks, with officials ensuring a smooth implementation process.
