Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday said the city government will observe ‘Seva Pakhwada’—a fortnight of service-oriented programmes—beginning on September 17, which marks Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday. The initiative will continue until October 2, coinciding with Gandhi Jayanti.

Addressing the media after a cabinet meeting, Gupta stated that the government has drawn up plans to implement 75 service-related initiatives during the two-week programme. These will include launching new welfare schemes, accelerating long-pending public works, and expanding access to essential services across the city.

“The Seva Pakhwada is celebrated across the country, and the Delhi government has decided to actively participate this year. From September 17 to October 2, several people-centric measures will be taken up to directly benefit residents,” Gupta said.

According to officials, the programme will focus on areas such as healthcare, education, sanitation, and infrastructure. Departments have been directed to identify projects that can be expedited within this period. Welfare schemes covering social security, women’s safety, and community outreach are also expected to be rolled out.
