Delhi: On the occasion of Bhai Dooj, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta celebrated the festival with jawans and fulfilled a decades-old promise by initiating work on a long-awaited water pipeline at a defence camp established in 1982.
Addressing the gathering, Gupta said the camp had been deprived of a water supply line for over four decades. She expressed happiness that her government was able to begin the project on this symbolic day of brother-sister bonding.
“This camp was established in 1982, and since then, the water pipeline hasn't reached here. I promised my brothers that we would bring the water pipeline here very soon. And I'm happy that on this Bhai Dooj, I was able to begin the work of getting the water pipeline operational,” Gupta said.
She further assured the jawans of her government’s commitment to timely action. “I promise all my brothers that if you assign me any task, our government will complete it as quickly as possible,” she added.
In another key announcement, the Chief Minister spoke about women’s empowerment, highlighting her government’s decision to repeal the restriction that prevented women from working between 9 pm and 7 am. “I'm amazed to think why women were denied the right to work from 9 pm to 7 am. We have repealed it. Now women can work at any time as per their convenience,” she said.
