In a significant step towards benefiting senior citizens, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off 70 vans for the registration of people aged 70 years and above for the Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that elderly citizens receive the benefits of the Vaya Vandana Card as part of the central government’s health insurance scheme.

Speaking at the launch event, Gupta explained that two computer operators would be stationed in each van, which will move across 70 constituencies for the next 70 days to assist the elderly with their registration. “It has been launched on the occasion of 70 days of the Delhi government,” she added. Gupta emphasized the importance of this initiative, calling it a step towards fulfilling Prime Minister Modi’s vision of extending the Ayushman Bharat Yojana to all eligible citizens.

Gupta, however, did not hold back in her criticism of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, blaming him for delaying the scheme. "Arvind Kejriwal is the culprit of the senior citizens for stopping the scheme for so long," she stated, urging the elderly to benefit from the scheme without further hindrances.
