Delhi: Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday conducted an extensive inspection of various Chhath ghats along the Yamuna, from Palla village to Hathi Ghat, as part of preparations for the upcoming Chhath festival. Spending nearly three hours on the ground, she also conducted a detailed boat survey to assess the banks of the river and review arrangements for devotees.
Speaking about the initiative, CM Gupta said the ground survey is aimed at laying a solid foundation for a well-organized Chhath celebration in Delhi. She highlighted that the festival strengthens cultural bonds among communities from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, while reinforcing the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.”
The Chief Minister instructed the concerned departments to quickly prepare a roadmap covering cleanliness, ghat construction, security, and other facilities to ensure devotees can worship Chhath Maiya without difficulty. Cabinet colleagues Pravesh Sahib Singh, Kapil Mishra, Laxmi Nagar MLA Abhay Verma, and officials from various departments were present during the inspection.
Officials said measures are being coordinated to handle large crowds, maintain safety, and provide uninterrupted facilities for millions of devotees expected to participate in the festival.
