Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday strongly criticised remarks made by certain opposition leaders against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother, terming them disrespectful and against the dignity of women.

Speaking to the media, Gupta expressed her disapproval, saying she was “deeply hurt” by the language used. Without directly naming them, she referred to opposition leaders Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi as “two yuvrajs,” and alleged that their words had lowered the standard of public discourse.

“I feel hurt when opposition leaders make derogatory remarks against PM Modi ji’s late mother. They have shamed the entire women’s community. The so-called two ‘yuvrajs’ have embarrassed the country’s politics by using such words, and not even one of them has apologised,” Gupta said.

The Chief Minister emphasised that political debates and criticism should remain issue-based and not cross into personal or familial attacks. She added that leaders must uphold respect while disagreeing, as personal comments erode the credibility of politics and set a poor example for society.
