New Delhi | Former Congress MP Sajjan Kumar was convicted on Tuesday by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court in a murder case related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, a development hailed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Delhi BJP Chief Virendra Sachdeva, reacting to the verdict, said that the ruling brought relief not only to the Sikh community but to the entire nation.

"Today, Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court convicted Sajjan Kumar in a murder case stemming from the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Not only the Sikh community, but the entire nation is happy. I would like to thank PM Modi for setting up the SIT, after which the investigation process was expedited," Sachdeva stated.

The case against Kumar, a senior Congress leader, is linked to the widespread anti-Sikh riots that erupted following the assassination of then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The violence resulted in the deaths of thousands of Sikhs across Delhi and other parts of the country.
